Uniqlo Teams with Celebs to Create T-Shirts for Japan

I love when the fashion world decides to support a cause! It always gives us a reason to buy really fun, one of a kind designs by famous designers/celebrities, and give money to people who need it. Don’t threaten us with a reason to shop!

It looks like Uniqlo and Condé Nast Japan have partnered to create 10 T-shirts designed by various stars including Lady Gaga, Karl Lagerfeld, Gwyneth Paltrow, Nicole Kidman, Alber Elbaz, Blake Lively, Charlize Theron, Cyndi Lauper, Victoria Beckham and Orlando Bloom, to benefit Japanese relief efforts. The T-shirts go on sale June 25 for $19.90. The international retailer expects to donate $1.2 million directly to the Japanese Red Cross in its ongoing efforts to alleviate the impact of the devestating earthquake that took place in March.

The initiative is not the first time that the retailer has leneded their resources. Tadashi Yanai, Chairman and CEO of Uniqlo’s parent company, Fast Retailing Co. Ltd., has personally donated $12 million on top of the $8.5 million in clothing, and $3.6 million in funds the retailer donated immediately after the disaster.
