Urban Fashion Turns to High Fashion for Inspiration

Urban fashion has its own set of rules usually, which typically goes against the grain. Clothes are usually looser fitting and more casual. These standards are typically set by the leaders of the Hip Hop community, and seem to quickly disperse throughout the community via music videos, urban television shows, and   magazines.

It seems that in the recent years urban fashion has been drastically changing and catching trends directly from the runways. The major urban influences have shifted to high fashion, with hip hop stars wearing fitted (and often times skinny) jeans, more tailored shirts, and even more formal wear. Artists such as mega producer Pharrell Williams, rap superstar Kanye West, and lyrically acclaimed hip hop artist Lil Wayne, all seem to be taking note at the fashion shows, and making relationships with the top designers to sport the newest gear even before it hits the runways.

There is a major shift in the urban world that should be noted and watched. Following in the footsteps of Sean Jean and Billionaire Boys Club, soon the urban fashion market may run the fashion game, just like it has taken over the music scene in the past 20 years! Take a look…
